Navigating our Website

If you are already a Computer Giants customer please log in before shopping, you can do this by clicking on the "log on" button above the menu on the left hand side of the page, or click on the "my account" button on the header above the search bars. For first time customers you have to place an order to create a new account.

I. Find a Part

Finding a part on our website is very simple, we have split it up into five different ways to make your life easier.

1. The parts that we sell the most of will be found by clicking on one of the nine product images on the center of the front page of our site.

a) First click on one of the nine images that have the corresponding manufacturer to the part you're looking for. Example: If you are looking for a Seagate SCSI hard drive first you would click on the image titled "Seagate disk and tape drives."

b) It than takes you to a few more images where the it will break down into the products that we sell of that manufacturer, you would than click on the category that corresponds with the part your looking for.

c) Once you click on that link it takes you to a view items page where you should than be able to find the drive you are looking for and purchase it from there (see section II. "buy a part"). All nine of the images on the front of the site will end up on a page like this.

2. If you can't find the part you are looking for through the first method, and you know the exact part number you are looking for, try entering the part number into the search field title "search by part number" on the upper left corner above the nine product images. It will than take you to a view items page where you should than be able to find the drive you are looking for and purchase it from there (see section II. "buy a part"). Unless you are either typing in the wrong part number for the part you're looking for, or we don't have the part, you should be able to find the part through this field.

3. Another way you can search if you know the part number, or if you at least know what letter/number the part number begins with you can find the part in an alphabetical list of all our parts.

a) First click the link at the bottom of the page just below the nine product images entitled "index of products by part number."

b) This will take you to an alphabet where you click the letter/number that the part number you are looking for begins with.

c) It than lists all the part numbers that we have that begin with that letter/number, if the part you're looking for has a part number which begins with the letter you clicked you should be able to find the part in the alphabetized list. Example: If you are looking for a ST373405LW you would click on the letter S than scroll down that page and find the part among the alphabetically listed parts that start with S.

d) Clicking on one of the part numbers will take you to an item details page, you can purchase the item and accessories for the item in this page (see section II. "buy a part").

4. If you don't know the part number and you know who makes the part, try searching for the part by the manufacturer of the item in the search field titled "search by manufacturer" directly to the right of the "search by part number" search field.

a) This field is a little different than the other. This search field has a pull down menu which you can scroll through and choose from any of the manufacturers who's parts we hold. Choose the manufacturer that corresponds with the part you are looking for.

b) It than takes you to a page where you can choose from the products that we sell of that manufacturer. It also has a pull down menu for each category to select a sub category. Choose the category than the sub-category that corresponds with the part you're looking for.

c) This should than bring you to a view items page where you will be able to purchase the item from (see section II. "buy a part").

5. The fifth and final way to find a part on our page is by choosing what kind of part you're looking for. You will find the parts split into categories in the menu on the left hand side of our page.

a) Select from one of these categories, it will take you to a page similar to the one that the "search by manufacturer" search field takes you to.

b) From here you can than choose from sub-categories or manufacturers. Choose the sub-category or manufacturer that corresponds with the part your looking for.

c) This should than bring you to a view items page where you will be able to purchase the item from (see section II. "buy a part").

II. Buy a Part

Once you have found the part you are looking for and you are in the view items page you can begin to add the items to your shopping cart (the view items page is a table split into four columns, product info, price, quantity, add).

Under the part number in the view items page you will find a link titled "get details/accessories," you can also add the part to your shopping cart from this page as well as any available accessories for the part.

Your shopping cart is where you will make your purchase.

1. View Items Page - to add a part to your shopping cart directly from this page first enter the number of pieces of the part you want in the field under the column headed "QTY" (if you're purchasing more than 1 piece of the part), than click the add button directly to the right of this field under the column headed "ADD." This will than take you to your shopping cart (see part 3 "shopping cart").

2. Item Details Page - here you will see a the long description of the part adjacent to a picture of the part on the right hand side. Underneath the description and the picture is where you can add the part to your shopping cart.

a) To select the part to add to your shopping cart first enter the number of pieces of the part you want in the field title "Quantity" (if you're purchasing more than 1 piece of the part), than check the box titled "Select." You can also select any accessories for the part the same way in the table below that.

b) To add the items you have selected to your shopping cart go to the bottom right of the accessories table and click the add button. This will than take you to your shopping cart (see part 3 "shopping cart").

3. Shopping Cart - you are now ready to buy the part you found. In the shopping cart you will see six columns.

a) Under the column "part" is where the part number will be.

b) Under the column "description" you will see a short description of the part.

c) Under the column "QTY" is where you will see the number of items you chose to purchase.

d) Under the column "unit price" you will see the price of a single piece of that part, and if you chose a quantity of more than one piece of that part you will see the total price of the pieces in the column headed "total."

e) If you accidentally added a part to the shopping cart that you did not want to purchase click on "delete" under the column headed "del item" to take the part out of your shopping cart.

f) To purchase the items in your shopping cart click on the button titled "shipping options/checkout." If you are a new customer enter your zip code before clicking the button.
